4. Set-Up Console or Platform Level Settings
Along with the Parental Settings on Fortnite, you also have the additional control offered by the platform you are playing on.
This means that if you, for example, turn off voice chat in Fortnite, your child may still be able to access voice chat using the chat system built into your console. Also, it means that if you apply restrictions at the console or platform level, for example specifying they are a certain age via the account or limiting user-generated content, they may not be able to play Fortnite.
- PlayStation: The age of your PlayStation account must be 12 or older. You also need to enable Communication and User-Generated Content in the Network Features section of Parental Controls for the PlayStation account wanting to play the game.
- Xbox: The age of your Xbox account must be 12 or older. To access Fortnite you need to enable the Family Settings | Privacy | You can see and upload community creations for Everybody. You also need to enable Family Settings | Cross-network play to play with people on different systems.
- Nintendo Switch: The age of your Nintendo Online account must be 12 or older. To be able to use voice chat you need Restriction Level | Communication With Others set to Not Restricted.
