Parents Evening with Creative Assembly - National Coding Week Special

We are teaming up with Creative Assembly and Into Games as part of their Parents Evening event. Our editor will be on hand to talk about video games and coding. Here are all the details...

Does the child you care for dream about a future career that embraces their creativity, let's them collaborate with friends, and problem solve alongside others who love to build, make, and create?

Video games are the UK's biggest, fastest-growing creative industry - combining creative, technical and people-facing roles across a workforce of over 30000 talented individuals from all walks of life!

Whether your child is an avid coder, artist, social media whizz, or history buff - there's a role out there that nurtures their talents and desire to create! As part of National Coding Week, Into Games and Creative Assembly are teaming up once again to share insights into the world of game-making with parents, carers and guardians from across the UK as part of this virtual, YouTube Live event.

We'll be sharing our insights on:

  • The vast number of roles available in games that straddle creative, technical, and people-facing disciplines; and the subjects in school than can best prepare them for a future career in the industry
  • Live Q&As with talented women, men & gender-diverse developers working in the games industry, breaking down their roles and the paths into them
  • How coding is not the scary subject it seems, and that even those with a creative mind can apply themselves to a number of technical roles in games
  • Not a gamer? No problem! The UK games industry wants talented, creative people with a flair and passion - we'll break down the most important skills for working in games!

We'll be joined by other partners and guest speakers who have made their mark on the games industry, to inspire and guide young people and their parents curious about the wonderful UK games industry.

After signing up for the event you'll be provided with a link to our YouTube where you'll be able to watch the live stream once the event begins on Friday 23rd September at 19:30 BST.

This event is organised by Into Games - the UK's non-profit skills and careers service for the games industry - and Creative Assembly - the UK's largest game studio and creator of the Legacy Project, a UK-wide initiative to support better games education for young people.
