Taming Gaming Book Offers Advice And Great Games For Families

Three years ago, our editor came up with an idea for a book for parents about video games. This was going to be different from the usual paperback. It would be a big colour hardback to inspire and inform parents and carers about the benefits of video-games, while also looking deep into the science behind worrying headlines.

Tomorrow that dream becomes a reality with his Taming Gaming book launching nationally. We have enjoyed working with him on the book and getting in early as a supporter. Like the other families, companies, charities and statutory bodies that have supported the project, we couldn't resist a resource that would benefit parents and carers - not by telling them what they should do but by aiding their video game literacy and confidence to make their own decisions.

The book is supported by a large database of games. The Family Video Game Database is a growing catalogue of over 900 games. It lets you search for them by the Age Rating, In-Game Purchases, Duration and Number of Players. You can also find lists of games if you or your child has specific accessibility requirements.

You can access the Family Video Game Database for free. The Taming Gaming book is available from Amazon, Waterstones and independent book shops.
